MEATLESS GREEK BURGERS — Plant based burger patties are seasoned with Greek Spices, then grilled and topped with homemade tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomato and red onion in this delicious, meatless meal.
If you’re like me, you’ve started the new year with some goals for healthier eating. I’m trying to choose plant-based options more often, and these Meatless Greek Burgers are a delicious and satisfying choice for a burger lover like me.
Honestly, I was pretty skeptical of meatless burgers. Then my husband accidentally ordered one at a restaurant a few months ago. I figured he’d never eat it. Well, he did eat it, and he liked it!
Naturally I had to try a bite for myself, and I had to agree with him. I honestly couldn’t tell the difference between his burger and mine. So we decided we’d eat plant-based burgers more often. So I was thrilled to find Beyond Burger patties at my local Safeway store.
Safeway has a wide variety of delicious plant-based products in their meat, produce and grocery departments, which makes it easy to kickstart a healthy new year, and keep those healthy habits going all year long.
When I served my Meatless Greek Burgers, I wasn’t sure how my teenage son would receive them. So just in case, I served a healthy side I knew he would love–fruit salad!
Turns out, I didn’t have anything to worry about. He polished off his burger (skipping the tomato and onion, of course) and went back for another one.
Of course, he loved the fruit salad too, and I also found all of my fresh fruit at Safeway, plus the ingredients for my homemade tzatziki sauce.
Some of the topping for these Greek burgers are optional, but the tzatziki sauce and the Greek seasoning are both a must. They’re what really sets this burger apart and makes it unique.
Both Tzatziki Sauce and Greek seasoning are easy to make at home. For the sauce, you’ll need some plain Greek yogurt, cucumbers, and a handful of fresh herbs.
This sauce is one of my family’s favorite condiments. So if you have extra, try it on sandwiches, in wraps, or as a dip for chips or vegetables.
You can prepare your Beyond Meat burgers any way you’d like, but we opted for the grill. I just love the flavor that the grill adds to foods, and it was the perfect way to prepare these patties.
Honestly, if I hadn’t told my family we were eating plant-based meat, I don’t think they would have ever known.
Don’t worry, I’ve linked to both the Tzatziki Sauce and the Greek Seasoning right in the recipe, so you’ll have everything you need!
