The classic O-shaped cereal is mixed with a marshmallow and peanut butter coating, then shaped into bars in this tasty treats that’s loved by both kids and adults.
If you’ve been craving a dessert that will take you back to your childhood, then these Peanut Butter Cheerios Bars are a must make!
I recently came across a box of Cheerios in the depths of my pantry and knew that they weren’t likely to be eaten for breakfast. My boys haven’t eaten Cheerios since they were toddlers, and they’re teenagers and adults now.
So I figured I’d have to come up with a creative way to use my new found box of cereal. And these delicious Cheerios bars were just the thing.
I had something like a Rice Krispies Treat in mind, but with the addition of peanut butter, and decided I’d adapt an existing recipe to satisfying my peanut butter cravings.
I know people have been making no-bake cereal bars like this for years, but that’s how my version of the recipe was born.
I quickly found out that everyone at my house still loved Cheerios. No one had outgrown their favorite childhood finger food after all.
At least, not when it was made into these crunchy, chewy treats made with marshmallows, peanut butter, and a splash of vanilla. I think my boys actually loved these as much as my Rice Krispies Treats.
Which got me wondering how many other cereals I could transform into desserts? I have made a version with Cinnamon Toast Crunch, I’m sure the possibilities are as endless as the varieties of cereal available.
This is also a great treat to make with kids of any age who love helping in the kitchen. Simple to make and fun to eat, the results will make any young chef proud.
Don’t wait until you find an abandoned box of cereal in your pantry to make these Peanut Butter Cheerios Bars. They’re worth going out and buying a box of Cheerios for today!
