RED AND GREEN GRAPE SALAD WITH HONEY LEMON DRESSING — This simple fruit salad features two kinds of grapes, toasted almonds, and fresh basil in a honey lemon vinaigrette.
Grapes have always been one of my favorite fruits, so it’s no wonder I love this Red and Green Grape Salad with Honey Lemon Dressing. It’s one of those simple recipes that’s surprisingly delicious.
First, I love the contrast of the red and green grapes. Then there’s the toasty crunch of the slivered almonds. And it all pairs perfectly with fresh basil and the flavors of honey and lemon.
This salad is quick to prepare and loaded with fresh flavors, and since it can mostly be made ahead of time, it’s perfect for bringing to picnics and summer barbecues.
Just save the toasted almonds and add them right before serving, so they don’t get soggy.
Slivered almonds would work just as well, and for a slightly different flavor, try replacing the fresh basil with fresh mint. Either herb is delicious in the recipe.
Of course, you could make this with just one color of grapes, and it really wouldn’t taste much different. But it looks so pretty when you use two colors!
And here’s a handy tip: you can store toasted nuts in the freezer, so they’re all ready to throw into recipes like this one. I like to toast my almonds in the oven, but a hot skillet will work too.
Just keep a close eye on them. They can go from barely golden to burnt to a crisp in a matter of seconds!
My family loved this salad! I love that it’s unique and easy to put together. It’s a perfect side dish for summer grilling recipes like chicken or seafood, and a nice change from the usual green salad.
If you love grapes and are looking for a fresh and fun new way to serve them, you’ve got to give this red and green grape salad a try!
