RESTAURANT STYLE SALSA — This easy salsa recipe comes together in about 5 minutes, and tastes just like the salsa from your favorite Mexican restaurant.

    Restaurant Style Salsa

This Restaurant Style Salsa is hands-down my favorite salsa recipe.  I suppose “restaurant-style” depends on which Mexican restaurant you go to, but this is a lot like the salsa served in many of the Mexican restaurants around here.

The best part (besides the amazing taste) is how quickly this salsa comes together. All you need is a blender or food processor and about 5 minutes and you’re ready to enjoy chips and salsa.

This recipe uses canned tomatoes, which I always have on hand, along with fresh cilantro, jalapeno and onions.

I love the convenience of using canned tomatoes paired with the other fresh ingredients.  It’s quick and easy, but has a fabulous, fresh flavor!

Add as much or little jalapeno as you like to achieve the desired level of heat. You can also adjust the heat depending on what kind of Rotel tomatoes you use.

I also love that salsa is a great low-calorie, low-fat condiment. Of course, that all depends on how many tortilla chips you eat. But when it comes to dips, salsa is by far one of the most healthy things you can dip your chips in.

This does make a lot of salsa, but the leftovers (if you have any) will keep in the refrigerator for as long as a week. This salsa never lasts that long around here though.

My boys love this stuff, so it disappears quickly at my house. Which is fine with me, since I don’t have to put a lot of time or effort into making it.

This is one of my go-to sides when we’re having Mexican food for dinner. I just whip up a batch of this salsa and open up a bag of tortilla chips and everyone is happy.

This salsa is also great for game day, or any kind of get together. I mean, who doesn’t love chips and salsa. This is sure to be the first thing to go at any party. Just be prepared to get requests for the recipe!

Be sure to save this Restaurant Style Salsa recipe to your favorite Pinterest board for later.

This recipe looks amazing! However I do not eat a lot of salsa at one time. Can this be frozen?

You can freeze salsa, but it isn’t ideal. The tomatoes tend to get watered down and the consistency of the salsa changes, so if you do freeze it, it’s better to use it as an ingredient in a soup, etc. rather than eating it as straight salsa. So yes, you can do it, but it’s not going to taste quite the same. This article might be helpful. http://www.canyoufreezethis.com/can-you-freeze-salsa/

I am not a canning expert by any means, but I know salsas or anything tomato based is tricky, but can be done. I would research online about the proper way to do that. And yes, you could use fresh ingredients, but it would be a completely different (but still delicious) salsa.

Stewed tomatoes are whole canned tomatoes. They should be labeled on the can as stewed tomatoes. You could also substitute plain diced tomatoes if you can’t find stewed, but both are readily available at the grocery store. Rotel is a brand name for tomatoes that are diced and have green chilies and spices added to them. You can also buy a generic version that would be labeled as “diced tomatoes with green chilies”, or something similar.
