This popular dressing is so easy to make at home! All you need is  mayonnaise, sour cream, honey, cider vinegar, poppy seeds, and a few other pantry staples.

Creamy Honey Poppy Seed Dressing

Yes, you can buy several varieties of poppy seed dressing at your local supermarket, but when it’s so easy to whip up this Creamy Honey Poppy Seed Dressing at home, you don’t need to bother with a trip to the grocery store.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of store-bought salad dressings and I use them all the time. They’re just so convenient, and I’m often in a hurry to get dinner on the table.

But I’m also not very good at keeping my favorite pre-made salad dressings on hand. Or when I do, I often find they expire before I use the entire bottle.

So I really do love whipping up my own salad dressings at home. I only have to make as much as I’m going to use, and I also know exactly what’s going into my dressing.

I just need to remind myself, even when I’m in a hurry, it takes about three minutes to whip up this sweet, creamy, poppy seed dressing.

Creamy Honey Poppy Seed Dressing

I’m sure there are a million different recipes for poppy seed dressing out there. This just happens to be the version that I’ve come up with after years of tweaking and adjusting.

As always, feel free to make changes based on your preferences. You can always use less sugar, or more if you prefer. Same goes for the poppy seeds and most of the other ingredients.

Don’t go too crazy, of course, but don’t stress if you’re running short on honey, or accidentally dump too many poppy seeds into the mix.

This dressing is always popular with any kind of salad featuring fresh fruit and greens, like this Strawberry Pecan Goat Cheese Salad. It’s also a delicious dressing for certain pasta salads.

It’s not always easy to convince my kids to eat salad, but they’re always willing when I serve a salad with this sweet and delicious Creamy Honey Poppy Seed Dressing.
