Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Sometimes, I crave a rich, chocolate dessert, but I just don’t have the energy to do anything time-consuming or fancy. Enter the Black Forest Dump Cake.
Talk about a delicious, no-effort dessert. This cake is so easy, I had my boys put it together while I made dinner. That’s the beauty of the dump cake.
It really is as simple as dumping a few ingredients into a pan. I popped this cake in the oven when we sat down to eat and an hour later, dessert was served.
Although the chocolate chips are optional in this recipe, I think the vanilla ice cream is an absolute must. And honestly, who is going to say no to more chocolate?
Now I always keep the ingredients for this recipe on hand so I can make it for last minute company, or whenever a dessert craving strikes!

I do a lot of baking and bring the items into work. Because we have to eat it on the go, typically, dump cakes are a little too “runny/gooey” on the bottom. Has anyone ever tried this recipe, but mix a little of the cake mix into the cherry filling, prior to putting the filling into the bottom of the pan? My guess is it would firm up the filling some, without affecting taste, but what do I know. Comments??

I like your idea of adding some cake mix to the pie filling. I never would have thought of that. Thank you for sharing your thought on this recipe.

After done and cooled add layer of cool whip and refrigerate till ready to serve. So you have cherry filling, cake, and cool whip topping. Instead of a solid cake you can break it in smaller pieces. On top of whip cream you can add some shaved chocolate or some score candy pieces on top.

This was such a delicious dessert! It was fudgy with a surprise crunchy ribbon. I used the chocolate chips but did not have ice cream so I served it without and it was still so good! Thank you for a great, quick and easy dessert recipe to add to my repertoire.
