Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Nothing says summer like a cold, refreshing drink, and these Strawberry Watermelon Fruit Slushes are the perfect solution to a hot summer day!
I don’t know about you, but I always come home from the store during the summer with a huge watermelon. I just can’t help myself!
Needless to say, my family can rarely eat the whole thing–can you believe I actually have one child who doesn’t like watermelon?! So I’m always looking for creative ways to use it up.
Well, these fruity drinks are so yummy, even my watermelon hating child can’t get enough of them. And not only do kids love to drink these slushes, they’re easy enough for kids to make themselves!
With some fun straws and a sprig of fresh mint for garnish, these icy cold drinks are the perfect way to cool off on a hot day!
I do recommend looking for seedless watermelon for this recipe. You can use watermelon with seeds, but you’ll want to make sure none of them end up in your drink.
And if you don’t have fresh strawberries, frozen strawberries (or even other frozen berries) work great too! This is also a great way to use up watermelon that isn’t as sweet and delicious as you’d hoped for.
This recipe is a great way to get kids involved in the kitchen. Especially in the summer time when kids so often complain, “I’m bored.” They’ll love creating these fun and fruity drinks for family and friends.
Feel free to adjust the amount of lemon juice and sugar to suit your tastes. And if you’re watermelon is extra juicy, you may want to let it sit in a strainer for a few minutes so your slushes aren’t to watery.
These Strawberry Watermelon Fruit Slushes are so easy to make and fun to eat, they’re sure to become a warm weather favorite at your house.
