Breaded popcorn chicken is tossed in a spicy, creamy Ranch sauce, then served in tortillas with lettuce, onions, and shredded cheese in this tasty taco the whole family will love.

Spicy Ranch Chicken Tacos

When it comes to dinner time at my house, I can never go wrong putting tacos on the menu, and these Spicy Ranch Chicken Tacos were a huge hit with my husband and teenage boys.

We have a local restaurant that serves a fried chicken taco, and since my family loves them so much, I was inspired to try something similar at home.

I made this last night, and we enjoyed it very much. I used Tyson frozen chicken strips, and cut them into pieces after cooking. 2-3 teaspoons of Tapatio hot sauce was perfect for us. ~ Ellen

The real star of these chicken tacos is the creamy, slightly spicy, Ranch-style sauce that’s used to slather the fried chicken pieces. This is definitely one of those recipes where the condiment is the thing that makes the meal!

In fact, I strongly recommend drizzling your tacos with a generous serving of more sauce before eating. And if you’re not in the mood for tacos, the sauce would be great for dipping plain old popcorn chicken or chicken fingers.

Or as a dressing for a Southwest or taco salad!

Spicy Ranch Chicken Tacos

The best part is, these tacos are so easy to make with the help of frozen popcorn chicken. Of course, you could always make fried chicken from scratch, but I hate the mess of frying food in my kitchen, so I’ll take a quick, no-mess shortcut any day of the week.

I usually buy Tyson brand popcorn chicken, but any kind will work just fine, so feel free to use your favorite, or whatever is available at your local grocery store.

We like to top our tacos with shredded lettuce, green and red onion, and pepper jack cheese for a little extra spicy kick. And of course, more of that amazing sauce.

But the sky is the limit as far as taco toppings go, so feel free to use your favorites.

If you’re looking for a super simple weeknight meal that both the kids and grown-ups will rave about, you’ve got to try these Spicy Ranch Chicken Tacos.

I hope you love them as much as we do!

Just tried this with a few tweaks and it was really good

    1. Was out of milk so I used a bit less of the ranch seasoning and instead added some normal ranch and extra hot sauce to ensure it wasn’t too thick.

    2. Swapped half of the chicken for frozen fish filets for sone variety

    3. Topped with shredded Colby Jack and some mixed vegetables

ALL of my kids loved these tacos! It’s a pretty rare feat around here to make a meal in very little time which everyone likes. Thank you for another keeper, Danelle!

  • This recipe looks delicious! I’m making it this week. Can you tell me, what brand of hot sauce you recommend? Hot sauce can be mild or very hot, depending on the brand. 2 Tablespoons seems like a lot.

I use Frank’s. And you can always use less if you’re worried about it being too much.
