An easy holiday salad with apples, pomegranates and chocolate chips. So festive and pretty, it’s perfect for Christmas dinner!
One of our favorite holiday season sides is Apple Pomegranate Salad. I got the recipe from my sister years ago and it’s been a favorite at our house ever since.
Besides being delicious, this salad is so easy! It’s one of the things my husband and kids really look forward to during the holiday season.
First you’ll need to seed a few pomegranates. If you know dinner time will be especially hectic, I recommend doing this ahead of time.
My favorite way of seeding a pomegranate is to cut it open, then submerge it in a big bowl of water. As you dislodge the pomegranate seeds, they’ll sink to the bottom of the bowl.
All the stuff you don’t want will float to the top and is easily skimmed off with a slotted spoon.
This Secret Pomegranate Seeding Trick video will show you how!
Then you can just keep the pomegranate seeds in the refrigerator.
Youโll also need to chop some apples. I like the way red apples look in this recipe, but they’re not my favorite variety, so I usually go with something red-ish, like a Gala or Fuji.
Once that’s done, you just toss everything together with some fresh whipped cream and mini chocolate chips and that’s it!
I like to top things off with a sprinkling of chocolate chips and a few more pomegranate seeds.
Honestly, you could even serve this salad as a dessert. It’s almost like having a side dish and a dessert all in one!
Either way, everyone is going to love this unique, festive and delicious Apple Pomegranate Salad!

Hi thanks for sharing. Id like to do this for our thanksgiving dinner. Can i do this a day before?

Just curious if you made the day before and how it turned out. I’m concerned about the apples browning.
