Whether you’re making them for a school fundraiser or bake sale, or simply to enjoy with family and friends, these Rice Krispies Treats have a few extra ingredients that make them extra special.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
It’s that time of year again, when school’s are hosting fall carnivals and celebrations, and a bake sale is often part of the festivities. And nothing sells better at a bake sale than these Rice Krispies Treats.
Every year, when my kids were in elementary school, the Cornstalk Carnival was the big fall fundraiser for the PTA.
It was the one time during the school year we were allowed to make homemade treats for the bake sale.
This is the best rice krispies treat recipe I have ever used. Cut nicely and tasted so good. Perfect gooey and sweet.

Everyone got excited about the opportunity to make and purchase homemade goodies. And even though they are so easy to make at home, the Rice Krispies Treats always sold like hot cakes.
Sure, these cereal and marshmallow squares have been around forever, but there’s something about them that’s just irresistible. Especially with a few added ingredients that make them even harder to resist.
I’ve taken the basic recipe for Rice Krispies Treats that we all know and love, and added a few simple tweaks. First of all, the original recipe comes out a little too thin for me.
There’s something about a nice thick Rice Krispies Treat that really appeals to me. So I add some extra cereal to my recipe. Which of course means adding a little extra butter and some extra marshmallows too.
The result is a slightly thicker bar, which just looks more appealing and bake sale worthy, if you ask me.
I also like to add a splash of vanilla and a pinch of salt. Nothing fancy, but it’s a subtle change that makes people wonder what’s so special about your Rice Krispies Treats.
Trust me, you can’t go wrong with these buttery, chewy, marshmallow cereal squares.
Rice Krispies Treats will never go out of style, at bakes sales, or as a quick and easy treat for your family. In fact, you should whip up a batch today!

Another cool add-in I found by accident as I was short on marshmallows is to sub a package or two marshmallow peeps to your treats. This extra texture is sure to cause a riot on how you did that extra yummy flavor!

Why does my retries treats fall apart after they cool. Crumbles? What am I doing wrong. I made sure it was all fresh cereal and marshmellows

I so agree – I like an inch thick or bigger Rice Krispie treat! Perfect for a bake sale — any tips on packaging them, did you just wrap them in saran wrap? Thanks, Danelle!

I like to do clear cellophane bags with some curly ribbon if it’s for a bake sale. I usually saran wrap them first though, so they don’t go stale too quickly.
