This simple but delicious meal feature grilled, marinated beef chunks wrapped in warm pita or naan bread, and topped with tzatziki sauce and fresh vegetables.
There’s nothing my family of hungry boys loves more than grilled meat, and this Grilled Beef Souvlaki is an often requested family favorite dinner.
And since this meal is so incredibly easy to prepare and cook, I’m okay with having it on the menu often. It’s also insanely good, which makes it a definite winner at my house.
I recommend using a nice cut of steak for this recipe, like sirloin or New York strip. Since it’s grilled rather than cooked low and slow, a tough cut of meat is still going to be pretty tough in this dish.
It also helps to marinate your meat for at least 2 hours. Overnight is even better. The longer you can marinate, the more tender and flavorful your beef will be.
Which also makes this a great meal to prep ahead for busy weeknights. Get the meat ready in the morning, or the night before, and there not much left to do when it’s time for dinner.
On their own, these beef kabobs are pretty tasty, but it’s the bread, tzatziki sauce, tomatoes and cucumber that turn this into a complete meal.
You can definitely make your own naan or pita bread, but I usually use store-bought to make this meal quick and simple. Trader Joe’s garlic naan (from the freezer section) is my favorite bread to serve with these kabobs
The ingredients are so simple, but come together beautifully in these souvlaki. As far as I’m concerned, this is the perfect summer dinner, eaten on the deck or patio.
Of course, we make this Grilled Beef Souvlaki all year long because it’s just that good. Enjoy!
