Red Hots Cake Mix Sugar Cookies

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and these Red Hots Cake Mix Sugar Cookies are a quick, easy treat to show your friends and family how much you love them!

My youngest son basically made these cookies himself. Since they start with a white cake mix, they are super easy to mix up and bake, so these cookies are perfect for kids who want to help in the kitchen.

And the finished cookies are so cute and festive. I like to press a handful of Red Hots into the cookie dough before baking, to get that fun, polka dot look.

Not only are these cookies fun to make, they’re fun to eat too. They stay soft for days (I’m pretty sure it’s the cake mix), and are a tasty treat with a glass of cold milk.

My son isn’t a huge fan of sugar cookies, but he said these were much better than your average sugar cookie.

We rolled our cookie dough in sparkling sugar before baking, but regular granulated sugar will work too. I just love that bit of extra sparkle!

Just put some of these cookies in a cellophane bag, tie it with a pretty ribbon, and you have the perfect homemade Valentine’s Day gift to share with friends and neighbors.

Of course, you’ll want to keep some to eat yourself, especially if you love sugar cookies (and cinnamon flavor) as much as I do.

I especially love that this is an edible gift that is easy enough for kids to make on their own, with very little supervision–a cake mix and a handful of pantry staples (plus the Red Hots, of course) is all you need.

I figure anytime I can convince my kids to whip up a tasty treat, it’s a win for me, and for them!

If you’re looking for a fun, festive, and easy to make Valentine’s Day treat, you’re going to love these Red Hots Cake Mix Sugar Cookies!
