TACO PRETZEL BITES — Pretzels are coated in a savory taco seasoning mixture then baked until crispy. The perfect snack for game day or movie night!
Now that football season is in full swing, I thought I’d share one of my family’s favorite game day snacks: Taco Pretzel Bites. Come to think of it, this is one of my family’s favorite snacks any time of year!
The first time I made these pretzels, they disappeared so fast, I never make them anymore without doubling the recipe. Living with teenage boys, I should have known!
You can use pretty much any kind of pretzel to make this spicy, seasoned snack. We really like the sourdough nibs, but twists or the square snaps work great too.
If you use spicy taco seasoning, you might want to omit the cayenne pepper. Or if you like things really spicy, add even more. I usually go with regular taco seasoning and a pinch of cayenne.
Feel free to be flexible with the seasonings to make this recipe your own.
I admit, I find these pretzel bites pretty irresistible, but my favorite thing may just be how easy they are to make.
I’ve started keeping the ingredients handy so I can whip up a batch for game day, movie night, or just after school snacking. They require just a handful of pantry staples and about 30 minutes of your time.
In fact, they’re so easy to make, I often have my teenage boys mix up a batch themselves. It only seems fair, since they usually devour them in less time than it takes to make them!
I’ve considered just posting the recipe on the refrigerator so they can make them whenever they want!
If you do have leftovers (never happens at my house) they’ll stay fresh for several days in a covered, airtight container.
